Angela Ling ’22 (she/her)

Hi! I’m Angela, co–editor–in–chief of The Arrow, and I’ve also been news section and graphics editor in the past. I love the page design aspect of journalism as well as being nitpicky about copy editing. Especially en–dashes. I challenge you to find a single hyphen that has not been changed to an en–dash in our issues this year, but be prepared to fail. Anyways, in my spare time, I enjoy doodling, sleeping, playing tennis and eating snacks.

Soumya Monga ’22 (she/her)

Hi! I’m Soumya Monga, co-editor-in-chief of The Arrow, but previously, I was feature section editor. My passion for writing and all things literature drew me to joining the staff many moons ago. I love page designing and getting to know the talent that makes up WHS through interviews. Aside from staring at our journalism desktops for hours on end, you can find me blasting music in my room and singing along. It’s quite entertaining, trust me. Thanks for visiting our website, and I hope you find something that interests you!

Allan Tieu ’22 (he/him)

Hi! My name is Allan and I am the news section editor for The Arrow. My favorite part of journalism is nitpicking and pointing out the tiniest design flaws and details on other peoples’ pages, but I hate it when my page is critiqued. I guess that’s just something that we all have to deal with! Outside of journalism, I love exercising and hanging out with my friends. I also play the violin and I occasionally play video games with my friends.

Vivian Stein ’23 (she/her)

Hi! My name is Vivian and I’m co-web editor in chief and arts and entertainment section editor for The Arrow. I originally joined journalism because I enjoyed creative writing, and I quickly grew to love the journalistic side of writing as well. Outside of the newspaper, I am captain of the WHS colorguard team and also enjoy reading and playing with my dog.

Makenna Norman ’23 (she/her)

Hi! I’m Makenna and I’m co–web editor in chief and feature section editor for The Arrow. I’ve been interested in journalism since I was about eight years old and saw a student run newspaper in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Outside of journalism, I play violin in orchestra and the mellophone in marching band, and although I no longer watch My Little Pony, I’m still a fan of other children’s shows such as Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Alyssa Rice ’23 (she/her)

My name is Alyssa and I am the opinion section and graphics editor. I originally joined the Journalism CP class because I wanted to be on the yearbook staff, but I fell in love with journalism and decided to join The Arrow staff instead. When I am not writing stories, designing pages or giving up what little free time I have for editing, you can find me playing soccer or watching TV with my dog. I am so excited that we can publish print issues this year and hope you all enjoy what we create!

Andy Lynch ’23 (they/them)

Hello! I’m Andy and I’m currently the social media editor on the WHS journalism staff. I’ve always been interested in writing and current news, so journalism seemed like a good fit. I have a bit of an obsession with vintage clothing and am always excited to find new deals! You can always find me obsessing over a TV show (One Piece and Doctor Who are my current faves) or deep into a comic/manga series like Chainsaw Man, and I will most definitely talk your ear off about all my theories and analyses!

Julie Rendon ’23 (they/he)

Hello! My name is Julie, I’m a junior and this is my second year with The Arrow. I am the social media editor for Twitter. I chose to do journalism because I wanted a new experience and it’s very fun to be able to see what goes into the newspaper. I also enjoy watching anime, with some of my favorites being Noragami, Future Diary and Hunter x Hunter. I am currently making my way through One Piece

Alyssa Joo ’23 (she/her)

My name is Alyssa Joo and I am the photo editor for The Arrow. I wanted to join the staff because I enjoy communicating with other students through stories and photos. I love art in all forms and enjoy drawing and poetry in my free time. When I’m not drawing, I volunteer as a tutor for biology, English, flute and ski instruction.

Grace Hefner ’24 (she/her)

Hi! I’m Grace and I was sports page editor for the first issue and center spread editor for the second issue of The Arrow. I have wanted to be a journalist ever since I watched the movie All the President’s Men and developed a slightly concerning obsession with Bob Woodward. Besides seeing me working in the journalism room, you can find me swimming backstroke at the WHS pool with the swim team.

Allison Tieu ’24

Hi! My name is Allison Tieu and this is my first year on The Arrow staff. I am the Business Manager, and I enjoy designing and creating pages and graphics for the newspaper. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do and I love going on hikes through nature, though most of my time is spent reading books from a wide range of genres, from non–fiction to sci–fi and fantasy.

Shane Douglas ’24 (he/him)

Hi, I’m Shane Douglas, a staff writer for The Arrow. Because of the creative writing involved in Journalism and the cool, visually appealing page designs, I enjoy being on The Arrow staff. Outside of journalism, I’m a lover of cats and basically any other animal. I’m also a Marvel and Star Wars fanatic.

Ella Marcum ’24

Hi! My name is Ella and I’m a staff writer for The Arrow. I manage the WHS Facebook account, so follow @whsarrow! I enjoy journalism because there are constantly new topics to explore and write about. In addition to journalism, I’m also a dancer on the WHS dance team.
