WHS’s Boys Athlete of the Month for September is Warrior Football’s standout cornerback and receiver, Kamren Fabiculanan ‘19. WHS’s 6-2 start and Marmonte League contention is in big part due to 6’ 1” 175 lb Fabiculanan, whose dual positions give the Warriors an edge in 2 phases of the game.

In his final year at WHS, Fabiculanan is playing his biggest role yet: putting up insane statistics to help boost the Warrior’s offense and defense. Averaging 41.6 receiving yards per game and 6.2 tackles per game, he has a major presence on both sides of the field.

“It’s my senior season” said Fabiculanan. “I just wanted to make this my biggest year ever and I’m doing whatever I can to make that happen.”

Aside from his contributions on the field, Fabiculanan’s vocality in the locker room has been important as well, acting as a leader and role model for younger players throughout the entire season.

“He’s pretty vocal and gives good pre-game speeches,” said running back Grady Johnson ‘19. “He really tries to connect with everyone on the team and takes every game seriously.”

Fabiculanan is currently committed to the University of Washington and is a four star recruit who is ranked the 26th best defensive back in the country. His elite ball tracking and athleticism make him an important addition to one of the best collegiate programs in the country.

“I’m extremely excited to be playing for that program”, said Fabiculanan. “The coaching staff there is amazing and they’re already an extremely strong team so I’m hoping to contribute to that.”

Westlake is sitting at third in Marmonte with a strong chance to make CIF if they continue to play at the level they have been thus far into the season. Regardless of their final outcome, the Warrior’s early success has been boosted by Fabiculanan and his contributions throughout the field.
