WASHINGTON, DC — PT Organics Limited is voluntarily recalling select Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit puree pouches after identifying a packaging defect that may allow plastic to get into the product. The company said the affected pouches were sold nationwide at Kroger, Meijer and Target stores between March 6, 2026, and July 13, 2026.

The recall was posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website Tuesday. PT Organics said no injuries have been reported. The company also said the recall does not affect other Pumpkin Tree-branded products.

What The Company Said

According to PT Organics, the recall began after a packaging supplier issued its own recall for a production run of defective pouches. The company said inspections of finished product made with that packaging confirmed a strand of soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of a small number of pouches.

PT Organics said the recalled product carries barcode 8 15367 01078 0 and lane number 4 stamped in black ink on the back of the pouch. The company also listed the affected best-before dates in its notice. It said the product is being pulled from the marketplace while it works with retailers, the supplier and regulators.

Who May Be Affected

The recalled puree pouches were sold at three national retail chains, giving the notice a broad reach for families who shop the affected aisles. PT Organics said the recall covers only the Banana & Strawberry puree pouches tied to the defective packaging, not the company’s other Pumpkin Tree products.

The company also said another item, Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Strawberry-Banana with barcode 8 15367 010100, is not part of the recall. PT Organics said it is sharing information so consumers can identify the product and know what to do, while it continues to review what went wrong with the packaging run.

What Consumers Should Do

PT Organics told consumers who have the recalled pouches not to eat them. The company said people should throw the product away or return it to the place where it was purchased. That guidance applies only to the affected pouches identified in the recall notice.

Consumers can check the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recall notice and the Pumpkin Tree Snacks website for the barcode, lane number and other identifying details. PT Organics said it will continue to provide updates as it works with retailers, its packaging supplier and regulators to determine what happened and prevent it from happening again.
