Publix Hosts Weekend Hiring Events for Two New Northern Kentucky Stores, One in Florence and One in Independence, With About 140 Jobs at Each Location

FLORENCE, KY — Publix is holding hiring events this weekend as it prepares to open two new supermarkets in Northern Kentucky, one at Farmview Commons in Florence and another in Independence. The company says each location is expected to need about 140 workers, making the recruitment push one of the clearest signs yet that both stores are moving toward opening.

The events are set for Saturday, Aug. 29, and Sunday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hilton on Turfway Road. Publix also started the weekend with an event on Friday afternoon. The chain says interested applicants can apply in advance at apply.publix.jobs.

Hiring Push Announced

Publix has said the hiring events are meant to staff the two stores before they open. The Florence store will be at Farmview Commons off U.S. 42, and the Independence location will be on Jenkins Drive. Both sites are part of the company’s expansion in Northern Kentucky.

The grocery chain has not released opening dates for either store. For now, the focus is on filling jobs tied to the new locations, with the company saying it is looking to build out the teams needed to operate both supermarkets once they open.

How The Hiring Came About

The recruiting effort follows construction and planning for the two stores, which are expected to bring new grocery options to the region. Publix did not provide more detail about the specific roles it is trying to fill, but it said the two locations together are seeking hundreds of employees.

Each store’s staffing target is about 140 positions, according to the company. That means the hiring events are aimed at a broad range of applicants, from people looking for entry-level grocery work to those with experience in retail or food service operations.

What Applicants Should Know

People interested in the jobs can go to apply.publix.jobs before attending one of the weekend hiring events. Publix says the interviews are being held at the Hilton on Turfway Road, and the schedule runs through Sunday afternoon.

Anyone following the stores’ progress can check Publix for updates on when the Florence and Independence locations will open. The company has not set those dates yet, so the hiring events are the main confirmed next step as the two Northern Kentucky stores move toward launch.
