REVIEW:

Romance/Comedy: Love again

Love Again is an amusing and timeless movie telling the story of Mira Ray, a children’s book author and artist, and Rob Burns, a journalist, played by Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan.

The story centers around Mira’s loss of her former partner and her eventual connection with Rob Burns because of an accidental text sent from her to Rob’s work phone. Celine Dion, who plays herself, represents the tie that brings Rob and Mira together, despite the struggles that occur along the way.

This movie brought elements of happiness and romance while addressing loss and the will to move on. Overall, this film is four out of five stars and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy.

Mystery/Thriller: Keep Breathing

Keep Breathing centers around the main character, Liv Rivera, played by Melissa Barrera. The story begins with an inconvenient flight cancellation and documents Liv’s subsequent detour to northern Canada.

The story focuses on a flight crash, leaving Liv stranded in the wilderness as a lone, pregnant survivor. Throughout the show, viewers await her fate in suspense as she faces a variety of challenges including wild animals, a lack of food and no compass.

The show was extremely thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat. Episodes also included flashbacks of Liv’s life before the crash, providing viewers with context of past experiences that led her to board the plane. Overall, I would rate the show four out of five stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful show.

Action: Lift

Lift follows the plot of Cyrus, played by Kevin Hart, and his Interpol Agent ex–girlfriend Abby, played by Gugu Mbatha–Raw, and their attempts to steal $500 million while on a flight.

At first, this seems like a classic heist movie, but as the plot develops, viewers are drawn further into the unexpected. The plot moves from person to person in Cyrus’s team as they individually compensate for their mistakes and encounter many twists along the way.

This movie was a fast–paced, enjoyable watch that made me want a sequel in the end. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a blend of comedy and action, and I rate it five out of five stars.
