The Advanced Anatomy talent show returns to the Carpenter Family Theatre on Feb. 23, from 7-10 p.m.

Tickets will be available from Anatomy students and can be purchased for $10. The money raised from the talent show contributes toward The Journal, a small yearbook designed  solely for the Anatomy class, as well as supplies and school trips.

This year’s class is smaller than previous years, with five less students, which motivates them to work harder. The class also has more girls than boys.

“Our class is one of the smallest classes in Anatomy, through the years but that has not stopped us,” said Mominah Subhan​ ‘18. “We have broke[n] records with tests and the garage sale.”

Because the class is slightly smaller, the students have grown very close together and hope to bring comedy and humor to the stage.

“The talent show is a unique event in which a bunch of really nerdy kids are going to be put on stage doing crazy things that they are most likely terribly at, but I think it is going to be really funny,” said Macie Gettings​ ‘18.

The talent show typically begins with a performance by Advanced Anatomy teacher Nancy Bowman​ and former WHS teacher, Darin Erickson. There are 5 dissection groups, and each group will perform a skit. There are rumors of an acapella skit, a Spanish skit and a High School Musical duet.

Advanced Anatomy is a rigorous class involving dissections and intense studying of the human body. The students also recently completed their wall projects, decorating the wall outside of the Anatomy room; however, now they will be busy preparing for the talent show.

“We have rehearsal after school and sometimes on the weekends in conjunction with our dissections and other things going on,” said Amin Seyed-Bolorforosh​ ‘18 “This whole month is
going to be really busy for the Anatomy students.”

The talent show could not be possible without ample support.

“It is really fun preparing for the talent show, even though it is stressful, because we all have each other,” said Subhan.

The students spend much of their time studying, so the talent show is a chance for them to reveal a different side of their personalities.

“We want everyone to see that anatomy is not just about studying and getting good grades,” said Michelle Zaichik​ ‘18 “It is also about having fun and the friendships we [have] made.”
